Samantha Colbert has always been drawn to the way places shape us. Growing up in Sydney, she built a career managing arts, cultural, and community spaces, designing ways for people to experience a deeper sense of belonging, connection, and well-being through the third spaces they share. This multidisciplinary approach to design, blending creativity with community, has been at the heart of everything she’s done, from running a bespoke stationery studio in Hong Kong to crafting her first candles under the brand Rue Colbert in Sydney back in 2010.

That same ethos is what drives Strait Lights today. More than a brand, it is a celebration of Singapore; a city that has become home, not just to Samantha but to a tapestry of people who have built lives, friendships, and memories here.
